Like a magnet, Mecca had been focused by Muslims all over the world since more than 2000 years ago. Despite of that, this holy city indeed is the centre of the earth surface based on the research made by geologist. They concluded that about 4.5 billions years ago when the earth had been born there are a few of plat movement around the Saudi Arabia plat. The well arranges movements happened since centuries like it was centred to one place that is the Arab.

Based on the research result, a conference had been held by Yusuf al-Qardawi together with a few Muslim scientist that is known as “Mecca: The Centre of the Earth, Theory and Practice” on April 2008. A resolution had been made that is to make “Mecca Time” as a substitute to Meridian Greenwich (GMT).  One of the scientific facts based on Quranic verses that being raised in the conference is the truth that the centre of the earth is Mecca.

Besides, one of the geologists explained that Mecca was situated exactly on the North Magnetic line that is not the same longitude as other places. The facts had been strengthened by the main reason why Muslims all over the world never stop themselves visiting Mecca, hence Mecca never left empty from Muslims that came from various places and various race and colours along the year.

Seolah-olah seperti magnet, Tanah Suci Makkah menjadi tumpuan semua umat Islam sejak lebih 2000 tahun lalu. Sememangnya kota suci ini merupakan pusat muka bumi berdasarkan kajian pakar geologi yang menyatakan bahawa sejak kira-kira 4.5 billion tahun terbentuknya bumi ini, telah berlaku beberapa pergerakan plat di sekeliling plat tanah Arab. Pergerakan yang teratur itu berlangsung sejak berkurun lamanya yang menuju ke satu arah seolah-olah berpusatkan suatu tempat, iaitu tanah Arab.

Berdasarkan penemuan penyalidikan tersebut, Syeikh Yusuf al-Qardawi bersama-sama saintis Muslim dan ulama mengadakan persidangan “Mecca: The Centre of the Earth, Theory and Practice” pada April 2008 yang menghasilkan resolusi supaya “Mecca Time” diwujudkan bagi menggantikan Greenwich Meridian (GMT). Salah satu fakta saintifik yang ditonjolkan berdasarkan ayat al-Quran ialah kesahihan muka bumi Makkah adalh pusat ataupun titik tengah muka bumi.

Malah seorang ahli geologi menjelaskan Makkah berada tepat di jajaran utara magnet, tidak seperti longitude tempat lain. Fakta ini menguatkan lagi sebab utama seluruh umat Islam sejak dahulu sehingga kini tidak putus-putus mengunjungi Makkah, malah kota ini tidak pernah sepi daripada dikunjungi umat Islam daripada pelbagai bangsa dan pelbagai lapisan masyarakat dan bangsa sepanjang tahun.
